(Public Dental Health Care In Indonesia & Voluntary Dental Project)

IDSS is a unique and captivating Summer school organized by Dental School of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta Indonesia. The program is combining academic and clinical activity .The aims of IDSS are to broaden students’ knowledge in Dental Health care in developing country especially in Indonesia and to let the students to gain practical experience in Dentistry that as we know, in developing country everyone will witness the impact of poverty on dental health that in conclusion the quantity and quality of dental morbidity is way higher than we find in western country. IDSS is also to allow Students to perform subjective and objective examination, diagnose and treatment in modified Problem Based Learning system.

Venue: Dental school of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta and affiliated Public Health centers.

Period: 15 July – 5 Augustus

Maximum Quota: 30 participants

Participants : Minimal: 3^rd year preclinical year student, Clinical Student, Fresh Graduate( Young Dentist) maximal year of graduation: 2008

Activities : Academic and non academic activities

Main Topics : health care in Indonesia, Dental care in Indonesia, Clinical Management, Endemic Dental Cases in Indonesia, alternative medication : herbal and acupuncture.

PBL academic programs: Expert Lectures, tutorial discussion, skill lab program , clinical visits .

Social activities : City Tour ( Malioboro, Sultan Palace,  water castle), Prambanan Temple, Borobudur temple, Ramayana Ballet performance, Krakal beach, Sport ( rafting etc), Student gathering and intercultural activity .

Fee: 250 € includes 3 weeks stay at host family , 2 times daily Indonesian meals. Fee doesn’t include tour and social programs, visa and travel.
